Peace
There came a day when the powers of war were balanced by those of peace. An equilibrium was reached, but fortunately this was disrupted and outweighed by peace.
I had long desired to see this day before I died when the soldiers would call a ceasefire in Israel. The day when the rapid machine gun fire would be the only thing that died. The day when the Palestinians and Israelites embraced each other in non-begrudging arms. The day when soldiers shook each others murderous war torn hands.
I walked through the famous gaza strip today and I didn’t see the normal mutilated bodies.I saw peace, I saw her lingering between the tiresome rivals.I saw her glowing in the clothes of the red crimson roses.I saw her in the smiles of widows and orphaned children. Her path was distinct: no destruction ,only love and prosperity.
I danced in Gods glorious smile. The sunshine. My happiness sung high praises of joy throughout the now beautiful streets. My permanent heavy heart m now fluttered like the doves in flight
The peace glowed in every face and the unity embedded itself in every fathers look upon his child.I met my husband at work today his demeanour was that of a fearless man.His kiss was only of love. His hatred of other races, melted.Again I saw peace and her many faces had settled in my husbands coarse heart
On the way home in our car we hovered past a children’s playground.I saw the most stunning sight. Brown haired boys, blonde haired girls, black haired boys- a selection of them. Tall children and short children from all the different backgrounds , rich and poor laughing and giggling in a small but significant circle. This peace and happiness that surrounded them, that weaved in between in each finger and enter twined hands was the love of the future . I nestled into my seat allowing all the wonderful images I had seen today to replay and I was thrilled by every one. Today’s a dream but tomorrows the truth.
