Promise
Your text goes here
PromiseWrapped in your honour specially delivered to my door.
Last night you plucked a rose and with each petal that fell you made a promise.
Will you keep them I wondered deep down, it was almost like you sensed my doubt
When you whispered “Trust me. I wont let you down.”
How do I know though, I mean I have no assurance you will keep these promises
That sound sweet and pleasant?
I searched my heart for some trust , and for an idea of what a promise entailed when it wasn’t broken but fulfilled with all ones heart.
A promise is a child’s smile to their father to always be obedient.
It’s something young girls often say as they are hastily leaving the house.
It is a child like saying “Do you promise to keep my secret”
“I promise”
But the realms of a promise go deeper than that it is not just some casual past time.
Stay with me and think about it.
We pass a church and we see the happy couple smiling and overwhelmed they don’t quite realise the entirety of their promises to each other.
They have promised to stay with that gleaming white smile even when it yellows and becomes miserable.
They have promised to be with this one person they believe they love for ever, till death lingers between them and changes their status.
A promise is not to be taken lightly it is a gift of committing yourself to a task or a person.
You validate what someone’s view in life is by keeping or breaking that promise.
A promise is an emerald swaddled in your honour and sealed with your honesty.
“I do wonder Peter do your promises still hold true, after my roundabout anologies”
